23rd March 10 00 – 12 00 | Online

Join SWRDSC and the launch of the Autonomy Special Interest Group, chaired by Steve Rice from the University of Plymouth.

A virtual session exclusive to cluster members where we aim to highlight some of the fantastic autonomy relevant offers within the region to defence and security markets and stakeholders.

Running Order:

10 00 – 10 10

Opening and Welcome:

SWRDSC PM & Host –

Charlie Heard | SWRDSC programme manager | Seconded from Babcock International

Steve Rice | Host | Project & Knowledge Exchange Manager | University of Plymouth

A word from the host, Steve Rice – In this session members will hear from three industry solution providers with bases in the South West. Speakers will share their journeys (behind them or ahead!) in autonomy and raise awareness amongst our members of their specific innovative offers to the defence and security markets.

In my role performing knowledge exchange at the University of Plymouth, I am focussed on collaborating with industry, defence and the wider science sector on the innovative development and demonstration of marine autonomous systems (MAS) in support of global challenges facing our oceans. In addition to chairing this new SIG for the cluster, I support two university research groups focussed on MAS, I sit on steering committees for two national conferences focussed on advanced marine tech and MAS, and I also Co-Chair the Future Autonomous at Sea Technologies (FAST) Cluster, which is the largest marine autonomy cluster in the UK.

I am pleased to present this inaugural Autonomy Special Interest Group for SWRDSC members.
